Course Safety

  • The route will be marked with sign boards at ANY JUNCTIONS and orange tags confirming the directions and route. Runners are however advised  to familiarise themselves with the route as unforeseen circumstances may cause markings to  have been forcibly altered or removed from their original position.
  • It is the runner’s responsibility to follow the markers and route as prescribed.  Should the runner not see any course markings within 500m of the last, they should return to the last known marker and continue from there.  Anyone not following the marked course, and the markings are found not to be at fault, may be disqualified.
  • There will only be marshals at strategic places on the course for your safety.
  • There is a race sweeper that will run behind the last runner on each course with a VHF radio.
  • There will be suitably qualified medics in position at the venue and, where necessary, at pre-determined positions on course. All necessary steps have been taken to alert the emergency services in the event area.
  • Runners deemed medically unfit by the medics at CP1 will not be allowed to continue and will receive a DNF on the results.
  • Trail running can be dangerous and not being careful when participating may lead to serious injury or even death. Please be careful and keep to the designated trails. The parties that may have any interest in the event will not be liable for any damages that may occur directly or indirectly because of the participant in the event, unless such damage was caused due to the parties gross negligence. The compulsory kit for the event is for your own safety and initial assistance in the event of an emergency.
  • Trail running is an outdoor event and weather, flooding, fire and outdoor elements cannot be predicted by the supplier. The supplier/race director therefore has the right to the stop the race at any time and his decision will be final. This will be for your own safety. If the race has to be stopped during the race for reasons beyond the control of the supplier, the participant will not be entitled to a refund.
  • If you decide to withdraw at any stage during any of the races, please inform the race organiser timeously by phoning the emergency number on your race number or by informing the sweeper or course manager.
